FAQs

What should I do if I experience difficulty during installation?

If you encounter problems during installation, contact Garmin Product Support or seek a professional installer for assistance.

Should I use a thru-hull pair for some installations?

A thru-hull pair is recommended for SideVü transducers with deadrise over 5 degrees.

Are different hull materials supported for thru-hull installs?

Thru-hull transducers are available for every hull material type.

Where should I install a flush thru-hull transducer?

Flush thru-hull transducers are recommended for smaller boats with minimal deadrise; they sit nearly flush with the hull.

Why use a fairing block with external thru-hull transducers?

A fairing block aligns the transducer face with the waterline for the most vertical beam possible.

Are there different styles of thru-hull transducers?

Yes, thru-hull transducers come in flush and external styles. Flush versions sit nearly flush with the hull, recommended for smaller boats.

When is an external thru-hull transducer recommended?

External thru-hull transducers are designed for larger, untrailered vessels, often using a fairing block for vertical alignment.
